Alaska Native Arts Foundation

We would encourage you to visit The Alaska Native Arts Foundation , which was formed in 2002 to support the Native Alaskan Arts community. Jonella Larson White formed the organization to  increase public awareness of Native Alsakan art and to help expand the market for the artwork. They foundation has a gallery, located in Anchorage at 500 West Sixth Avenue which has monthly exhibits of art by contemporary Alaska Native artists and includes works created in mixed media, paintings, sculpture, wood carvings, fused glass, cast bronze and other forms.

The Foundation maintains a large inventory of Native  Alaskan art and hand-made items and tools created for the basic survival of the people who have made it. In their inventory you can find ivory carvings, etchings, sculptures created of whalebone, salmon skin baskets,  halibut skin baskets , traditional sealskin clothing, jewelry, accessories, baskets, ulu knives, all sorts of clothing, silver, gold and copper jewelry, and hair ornaments.

The Foundation is also provides grants to support artists in their efforts.
